Edison (ComEd) Selects Macrosoft’s Emergency
Resource Management Tool
Macrosoft’s
Resources on Demand (RoD) Enables Utility Storm
Centers to Track and Manage Crews During Large
Scale Emergency Outages
Parsippany, NJ -
Macrosoft has entered into an agreement with the
Chicago-based electrical utility ComEd to provide
its emergency resource management tool, Resources
on Demand (RoD). RoD is a multi-user system that
manages resource requests and allocations, tracks
personnel movements, and supports lodging and
logistics during restoration events.
“We are excited to add ComEd as our newest
utility client,” said Jason Singer, director
of Macrosoft’s Utilities Practice. “RoD
will help ComEd speed efficiencies during restoration
while creating a permanent record for post-event
reporting and analysis.”
“In Illinois, we face a range of severe
weather, from spring thunderstorms to snow and
ice in the winter. RoD will help us manage, track
and support the logistical needs of our storm
management teams as we deploy crews during a storm
restoration,” said James Conway, Director
System Operations at ComEd, Illinois’ largest
electric utility.
Intuitive and user-friendly, Macrosoft’s
Resources on Demand provides storm center personnel
with a tool to effectively organize crew and equipment
allocations, monitor personnel availability, and
improve the assignment process. The system leverages
historical data and reports to establish best
practices for use during future events.
